EXCLUSIVE: 'It's always tough to say goodbye': Home and Away's Kyle Pryor admits he was 'sad' when his onscreen ...
Bonnie Sveen announced she was leaving the long-running soap Home and Away in April.
And now her former castmate and onscreen husband Kyle Pryor, 32, has admitted how ‘tough’ it was bidding farewell to his close pal.
The star – who plays Dr. Nate Cooper on the show, told Daily Mail Australia at Thursday’s Carmen opening night at the Sydney Opera House: ‘It’s always tough to say goodbye to such an esteemed cast member.’
‘But the time always comes when somebody has to leave and move on,’ the buff star said.
‘It’s always quite sad when somebody goes, because we work so closely together and we shoot so many hours of TV as a collective. It’s always sad when we lose one of our team.’
On the show, Bonnie, 27, played the role of Ricky Sharpe, who married Nate in some of her final scenes.
However, Ricky and Nate later called time on their romance last week, thanks to her former boyfriend Daryl ‘Brax’ Braxton, who was played by Stephen Peacocke.
Ricky – who had a son with Brax – then struck up love again with bad boy Brax and the pair left Summer Bay together.
When asked how Bonnie told him the news of her departure, Kyle said he got an inclination from reading through the script.
‘It’s one of those funny things, you start reading some things in the script and then you get wind of what might be coming,’ he said.
‘She was okay about it. She was quite happy, then again sad to leave the show and the team and then excited about what was coming.’
Bonnie has this month finished filming for her new Channel Seven show, The Secret Daughter.
Also starring on the show is singer Jessica Mauboy, 26, and Erin Holland.
Jessica plays the main character, singer Billie Carter, while Bonnie plays her back-up singer Layla.
Last month, Bonnie told Daily Mail Australia how she was sad to be leaving, but was looking forward to her new project.
‘It was a mixed decision,’ she said, ‘but I’m really excited to be on Secret Daughter,’ Bonnie said.
‘I definitely enjoyed every day there, there was a lot of love on that set and I’m still very fond of all the people I worked with.’
